My fall from grace and weekend shame…

It’s been a rough, although delicious weekend. I did not make one healthy choice this weekend – no, not one. It started with breakfast at CDs on Saturday morning. I ordered what is now know as “Beth’s Omelet”, which consists of 2 eggs (the regular omelets have 3), cheddar cheese and sausage – all well-done. This comes with home fries and an english muffin. Fortunately, I was unable to finish it, in fact I don’t think I even ate half of it, but that was not my intention.

After breakfast, I took my daughter shopping for some much-needed winter school clothes. She received a McDonalds gift card for Christmas and took me out to lunch. We dined on Big Macs and Chicken McNuggets. She tasted a Big Mac for the first time (used to get an “ewwwwwwwwww”), and now it’s a “wow – that’s great”. Unfortunately for her – she really liked it. And as a thank you gesture for taking me out to lunch – I took her to Cold Stones for ice cream. I had a small (that was the only good decision I made there) chocolate with brownies, fudge and cookie dough. She had a small chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, snickers and fudge. All very good, but oh so bad.

We went to a family “thing” for dinner. I never felt so trapped. We munched on chocolate chip cookies, cheese, coke, 2/3rds of a piece of pizza and crab dip with cream cheese. Fortunately, I was able to get us out of there quickly and avoid eating even more crap. On the way home, since I was feeling deprived of any real dinner we treated ourselves to a Snickers Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich – a new frozen novelty that the Emperor so kindly introduced me to.

Sunday was a bit better. We started off with church and the after church breakfast took us back to CDs place where I had a sausage and cheese on an english muffin with home fries and a coke. We had a late lunch at one of our favorite places in Boyertown – Durangos Saloon. I had half of a buffalo chicken wrap and the best fries ever and the other half of the Emperors Cuban sandwich. The hot sauce on the buffalo chicken was too much for me so we traded other halves. Then we went to the Super Bowl party at my mother’s house.

Fortunately I don’t come from a drinking family – just eating. Somehow the world views that as better. I’m not sure, but I suppose you can become obese from either. We just don’t have the liver problems – only cardiovascular. I only had a small piece of chocolate cake and a few chocolate candy pretzels there – could have been much worse.

I think that was all I consumed from my fall from grace. Anyway, the results are apparent as I stepped on the scale this morning and gained 5 of the 6 lbs that I lost last week – back.

I’m back on track as of this morning. I had a small bowl of Bran Chex this morning for breakfast and I will be having a chocolate Smoothie for lunch.

Day 10…

I forgot to write yesterday, but it was a day, not unlike every other day. I did actually run out of the Chocolate Right Size Smoothie mix before the new tub arrived. So – no shakes yesterday. I did have a bowl of Khashi for breakfast, Emperor Anton made me a tuna sandwich for lunch – very good, even though it had egg, relish and Miracle Whip in it. I had a McDonald’s double cheeseburger for dinner. I don’t think I had dinner until after 10pm. I had to go to science fair at my daughters’ school and never had a chance to eat dinner before the fair.

I did, however, go to the Y again, and that’s always good.

I’ll be curious to check my weight at the end of this week, since I feel as if I’ve been off course already. I’m thinking I will have stayed at the same weight or perhaps even gained a pound, hopefully no more than that.

I’ve discovered that the older I get – the more difficult it is to lose weight. I don’t feel like I’ve become less active – quite the contrary, but perhaps it’s hormonal. Not sure – but it’s a drag.

Weight Loss Day Three…

Right Size SmoothieWell, I completed day three – still in the easy stage, but I’m starting to want something other than a shake for two meals. Perhaps I could add a salad to lunch or something else.

Breakfast and lunch were exactly the same as the first two days of my weight loss plan – a chocolate shake from Rightsizeonline for each meal. I should be receiving the Slend-a-Berry Right Size Shake in the mail very soon. That should add some variety to my life. I had two whole wheat Pizza Lean Pockets for dinner. I might should have only had one, but it was 7pm by the time I ate and I was starving – and they were only 210 calories each.

I did go to the Y again and got on my favorite elliptical machine and burned almost 400 calories again. I’m not sure why, but it’s becoming difficult to get motivated to go to the Y. We used to belong to the Spring Valley YMCA – and that was great, but there’s something about the Boyertown Y that just doesn’t do it for me. But, it serves a purpose and I will continue to persevere.

Hello world!

I’m Lizzie Bean. I’m a forty-something, tail end of the baby-boomers woman, who’s struggled with weight-issues my entire life. My doctor, while trying to figure out if I’m in menopause or not – has determined that I have borderline metabolic syndrome. I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called, but apparently my cholesterol is getting high, and in the doctors office – my blood pressure was a bit high as well. Bottom line – he said I need to lose weight and lower my cholesterol.

I’ve been on what feels like every diet available and what I’ve determined is that they all work if you actually do them. Most of my adult years I’ve been overweight – at least since I gave birth to the four cherubs. Several years ago – about four, I think – I lost a bunch or weight – about 70 pounds. After all the diets, over all the years – I lost the weight by giving up flour and sugar; counting calories and I joined Curves and went every day – religiously.

Well, four years later, I’ve become a little too comfortable again and need to drop about 30 pounds. I’ve noticed a new pattern developing over the past few years. At the beginning of each year and throughout the spring – I’m determined to lose weight – and I do. But, by summer, I’m so tired of dieting and feeling like I’m depriving myself of the food that I love – that I spend the rest of the year putting the weight back on – only to start the New Year by psyching myself up again to take off the extra weight.

And this year is no different. But, knowing that all diets work if you work them – I’ve decided to do a different diet program each month and evaluate all the different diet programs. I figure at the end of six months – I should have lost the 30 pounds that I want to lose.

Here are my starting goals and stats:

Start weight –
Goal weight – 135
Start date – 01/22/07
Anticipated end date – 07/22/07 (one day before my birthday!)
Workout schedule – minimum of 3, 30 minute workouts at the Boyertown YMCA

First diet program – Right Size Smoothies

The Right Size plan is actually a 6 week plan – sorry, I can only commit to a month. But, here’s the plan:
• Simply replace 1 to 2 meals per day with a RightSize® Smoothie of your choice and an 8 oz glass of water.
• Supplement your diet with RightSize® Multivitamin with Appemine®, an appetite controlling daily multivitamin.
• Maintain a healthy metabolism using AppAssure® with green tea extract.
• Any other meals should be reasonable and balanced.

I will be replacing 2 meals with the smoothie since I want to lose weight instead of maintaining weight.
I’ve already tried the Right Size chocolate smoothie – very good (for what it is)
I think I’ll order up some of those multivitamins too – can’t hurt. Fortunately, I’m already on Adderall – a natural appetite suppressant.

Ready, set, go…
