Those little indulgences are key to surviving the holidays, at least they are for me. If I completely restricted what I could eat, I think I would end up giving up and eating anything and everything in sight. But, because I let myself have an occasional indulgence or an entire day of indulging – I can make it through the holidays without too much trouble.

There really are too many days that revolve around food this time of year. Really when I think about it, everything starts at Halloween. That’s when the candy comes into the house. Then Thanksgiving, tons of Christmas parties and then Christmas. And to top things off – three of my four kids have birthdays in October, November and December – each needing their own party.

I have no doubt that I will gain a pound or two during all the festivities – but the days/meals that we are not celebrating anything – I will continue to eat as I should – no sugar, no dairy.
