As I was replying to a recent comment on my “down 4 lbs” post, I realized that I am always “dieting”. I have not embraced a healthy lifestyle and this became crystal clear when I realized that I’m either eating “right” or not. This is definitely a dieting mentality. And I wonder why I can’t seem to lose weight!
If I were focused on living and eating a healthful diet, an occassional treat or indulgence would be ok. I would still be eating healthy and NOT dieting.
What do you think? Are you eating healthy or dieting?

Nutrition for a healthy life since I am healthy. 6 meals a day like. As not to start your day without breakfast. As not to eat after the evening from 6.
I am trying to learn how to eat healthy. I have 43 years worth of poor nutrition to undo, and in order to do that I need to restrict what I eat for a while. Eventually I’ll start adding stuff in - I do miss chocolate! - but for right now I have to do without. So, no, I’m not “on a diet” but I’m not eating even occasional treats, either. Yet.
Weight can be summed up
diet
exercises
changing style
thats it
I choose healthy foods. Stick to water, milk and 100% fruit and vegetable juices as your main beverages and limit sugary soft drinks. If you get tired of plain water, add a slice of lemon or lime to add a touch of flavor.
It is really a big issue, now a days, especially for ladies, as discussed about weight loss. As there are many complexions for genetics, wherein you may see in many people, for even when they are into scarcity of foods (low-fat), then also the increment of fatness goes on…
Still I would like to suggest, that natural exercises, like jogging, running if possible, sit-ups, etc., are very important then taking low-fat food stuffs….
Thanks.
Hey, I think the border between the two is skewed, changing your lifestyle involves dieting, and vice-versa.
It is better to adopting a healthy life so you would able to lose weight and maintaina stable weight.
But it is difficult to resist to our temptation for chocolate and candys.
I find that the healthier I eat, then the more I can eat, and it is as far from the idea of dieting as in “starving to death” than it can be. The better my food choices are more I can eat. I have been steadily losing a pound a week since focusing on losing my extra weight since January. So far, so good and no starving here!
Eat right and stay healthy. Exercise is also very important and always keep your head up. Don’t try to look around for the new fad diets, the food has always been on the table, it’s just about the amount you eat and the way its portioned.
I think …
lifestyle change (lots fruit, saccharin and not sugar, …)
sports, 1 or 2 times per week
diet is really difficult to do, always 3 month after you leave the diet because you are very hungry lol
I exercise but still tend to eat all the wrongs stuff. I’m working hard on it though and hope to improve my eating habits soon.
Nutrition for a healthy life since I am healthy.
I am affraid that I am one of those people who approaches diet in fits and starts. I go through phases when I go mad about eating health food, not oicking between meals etc. Unfortunately I never seem to be able to keep it up for long before the allure of quick and easy solutions start to win again. That said i have managed to give up sugar in coffee, and on everything else for that matter. I no longer by sugar and have got to the point now tat I don’t miss it, so I geuss I can look on that as a small victory in the ongoing war that is my daily diet.
I eat sensibly around 4-5 medium sized meals a day. It is always better to eat healthily then to diet. I have some bad experiences with diets.
Thank you for you most helpful comments on losing weight, I have tryed many diffrent weight loss programes in the past, and your comment where very helpful.I have had a little success with keeping my weight to what I enjoy it to be. I was three stone more then what I should be, and got down to two stone less then my ideal weight. I am now back up to a stone higher then I should be. But I anm now working on getting back to my I deal weight.
Thank you once again.
I consider what I am doing as living a healthy lifestyle. I try to do really well through the week but will splurge on at least one meal on the weekend. I look forward to this and therefore it helps me keep on track throughout the week.
I’m amazed how difficult it is for my girlfriend to stay of chocolate. We drink lots of water now, she don’t like it though.
i have stopped eating junk foods… but trust me it is sooooooo damn hard to do it.. truly speaking these healthy foods are so tasteless.. i just hate them..

I need to put a ceiling on what I eat for a while. sooner or later I’ll start adding stuff in - I do miss chocolate! - but for right now I have to do without declaring that all every fat human being being in the world.
In my opinion it is not good to go on a diet. It is better to make a lifestyle change that always consists of a healthy diet and exercise regime. The occasional snack is OK, as long as it is not the type of snack that you can lose your self control on.
I tend to eat small and often I find it a lot better for the digestive system. Eating to much late at night as well can sometimes cause bloatedness!!
I think the diet craze in america is outrageous. this is some very healthy and useful information for those trying to lose weight, the healthy way.
I realized that I’m either eating “right” or not. This is definitely a dieting mentality. And I wonder why I can’t seem to lose weight!.
I guess yo-yo dieting isn’t a healthy lifestyle, there are plenty of diets and i think its better to choose an old fashioned nutrious diet where maybe it takes a little longer to lose weight but where you aren’t propelled into binge eating afterwards than to undertake a more rapid and fashionable diet.
I am personally trying to create a more healthy lifestyle, as bikini season is fast approaching. The current diet I am working is a cheaters diet. I eat healthy during the week (i.e. low calorie diet) and then on the weekends I allow myself to eat whatever I want. I am essentially constantly changing it up so my body can’t get into a routine of only burning the number of calories that I am eating. It is really an ingenious concept and has worked pretty well for me so far and I still get to eat the things I like! I love it!
I eat healthy. I try to keep my meals low in carbs and slightly higher in proteins. I eat a lot of veggies and one orange a day. I exercise a lot (4-5 times a week) on top of walking home every day from work (45 min fast pace walk).
I agree with Summer, it is better to eat more healthy and more often then to stop eating, which is the worst way to try to lose weight, as you are only fooling your body that you are starving and that it should save the calories…
Healthy lifestyle only! No freaken diets! You should struggle with the reasons of extra weight not with the extra weight itself.
Dieting can reduce the nutrients you need for your body. Many people do not know the right diet they need to do with their bodies. For me, choosing a healthy living can produce a good outcome for you than dieting.
we all should eat healthy. I work too late and get up too late, so I don’t eat breakfast generally. I also like to eat healthy and do some exercises, making my body good, but I cann’t adjust the time still.
Diet and healthy food both can be really good if they can be followed properly and at planned way. One can follow both with proper balance. It will be pretty helpful.
for me for sustainable weight loss it has to be a lifestyle change, otherwise bad habits will return and so will the pounds!
I believe in a well-balanced diet and eating six small meals throughout the day. I figure if I eat sensibly throughout the day then I won’t binge when given the chance.
I prefer to eating healthy
sometimes dieting will change our lifestyle and brings new problem
I eat sensibly around 1-2 medium sized meals a day.
Yes, balanced diet is the only way to achieve weight loss in a safe and healthy way. You can combine some fitness equipments with proper guidance from fitness trainer to speed up the weight loss process in healthy way.
The best is to eat more times a day, but small meals. Of course, only healthy food comes in option + exercise frequently and for sure everybody can look good.
I diet. I usually eat 2 soft meals a day. Although I pig out on these two meals, not sure if I am getting ahead or falling behind on healthy goals.
I feel very full after the big meal so I don’t have to eat as much.
Any thoughts on this as a diet solution?
I believe that healthy and nutritious diet can make us fit and healthy. I generally follow healthy lifestyle. I also do various exercises and yoga to remain fit and healthy. I take my diet at frequent intervals.
I often hear about power meals and 4 to 6 small meals a day. I wonder how good this is but of course what does the meals consist of is important. I am not trying to gain or control weight at this point of time, but wondering about right food.
Better do eating healthy + do some exercise will do a great combination.
Which would make more effective healthy living lose weight. Put simply be calculated as follows. Diet can be interpreted to limit the body’s need for substance needed by the body. Of course it would be wrong, if we limit the actual substance is needed by our bodies. However, with a healthy lifestyle, that means, we manage well what substances into our bodies. We can sort out what is good and what is not good. So I think, try to live a healthy life is better than a diet.
Yep, a balanced diet and exercising 2-3 times a week is the way to manage your weight on a long term basis.
Thanks for sharing your diet thoughts with us!
Honestly, I’ve found myself in the same boat as you numerous times. Always dieting after gaining weight during a 3-week busy spell or a long vacation in which calories consumed were way over the norm. But I’m a big believer in the “adopting a healthy lifestyle” option instead. Case and point: last year I entered a biggest loser competition at work. For 8 weeks I made a conscious effort to exercise moderately while eating small fairly healthy meals 5 times per day and minimizing consumption of alcohol and sweets. I felt great, got my weight down 13 pounds within 3 weeks and was able to keep the weight off the entire 8 weeks and beyond. I finally began gaining the weight back when I started eating carelessly and neglected exercise. During the entire 8 weeks I did nothing drastic, just played it smart.
Its hard for alot of people to grasp the difference between the two. They think you have to diet hard to be healthy.
We all know exercise and diet compliment eachother. However I’ve found that losing weight and maintaining my weight has been mostly influenced (up to 80% I estimate) by eating healthy. When I eat healthy, the type of exercise I do seems less important although it certainly helps with my overall well being.
Healthy living style is very effective than diet. I think diet is not effective like healthy life style. It will be good to take some herbal treatments and practice yoga for healthy living life.
You should always aim to just eat healthy. It does suck for the first couple months but people need to move past the old cravings.
The best way to eat healthy at home is to not have any temptation. I know, if I have junk food at home then I’m going to eat it. So it’s best just not to have the temptation at home.
Dieting too much I think could be bad habbit. Because something bad will occured if you always doing that. In my opinion, we should doing healthy lifestyle in almost everyday. Do it like take some walk near on your home at morning, jogging every week, and fitness every 2 weeks.
For me, It depends on what you mean by “eating healthy”. On several occasions, i found that eating only protein and vegetables and going low on carbs, have risen my weight. It didn’t really matter whether I ate healthy or not my weight seems to rise most of the time. The only way i can maintain my weight on normal terms is by eating only twice a day, which isn’t a very healthy habit at all.
According to me healthy lifestyle is always better for living a good healthy life.In this ways there is no need to any dieting. For healthy lifestyle sometimes you have to avoid junk food as they can make you more fat.Soups, salad and fruits are just good for healthy life.
Boosting your metabolism is very important. This is easily done by eating a healthy snack between meals. Starving yourself will lower you metabolic rate. Also, drinking at least 2 quarts of water a day will give it a boost.
I love my food too much. Nice to see more models being used though who aren`t the `perfect` size.
We all know that “HEALTH IS WEALTH”. Too much of dieting is not the healthy option. It sometimes leads to weakness in body. You must have a balanced diet with low calorie foods. Calorie matters the most. High calorie diet is what you should avoid and have a daily physical exercise which will keep you healthy.
Hi, I couldn’t agree with you more. It is all about health. If you don’t have your health, really nothing else matters. It’s really true, because if you think about it for a minute, everything else comes to a halt if you are sick. And unfortunately so many people are getting sicker and sicker with the food that is being consumed in this country.
I have to say I loved your video about the crab cakes, but you don’t need to diet at all, in my opinion. You look like you are at your perfect weight from what I could see in that video. All you need to do is eat healthy like you said.
I used to have a weight problem, and about 8 1/2 years ago I took off over 100 lbs. It took me 1 1/2 years, but I’ve kept it off ever since, and I do eat a very clean healthy diet, and I’ve never loved food as much as I do now. Now all I have to put up with is people telling me I’m too thin. Honestly, you can’t please everyone, so only please yourself, lol.
I have a blog, and I would love for you to check it out. I don’t know if I’m allow to post it here, so please delete it, if I’m not. It is coffeysplace.blogspot.com. I would recommend my post entitled Emotional Freedom From Food, and Emotions Are Gluttonous. If you don’t come to read it, I wanted to mention EFT. I don’t know if you’ve heard about it, (if you google it you’ll get lots of info) but it is extremely helpful with food issues, actually it’s helpful with everything.
Anyway, you really have a cute website here, and I enjoyed it, and will be back. I wanted to put up a website, but I’m not very computer savvy, so I settled for a blog.
Take care,
Jeanne
I am trying to balance my healthy lifestyle with my hubby. We did not deprived ourselves to food because we only eat just enough for our meal. We maintain exercise and at least we live in an active lifestyle. Thanks for sharing this topic.

I can never stick to a diet. Unfortunately I wouldn’t say I eat all that healthily either. Maybe I have just given up, I don’t know. As I get older I keep think my appetite will get less, but it doesn’t seem to yet.
For me: Diets just dont work. What has worked for me is just healthy lifestyle and radical changes to eating patterns. I’ve become a vegetarian and I stopped drinking and started exercising, Then I lost loads of weight. Trying to go “on a diet” before that just didn’t work. So whatever you find that works for you - keep doing!
It was not until I started seeing food as a fuel for my body that I really managed to lose weight. I asked myself “would you really fly an airplane if you knew it was pumped with inferiror fuel?” No.
:-)
I lost about 10 pounds by just changing a few things in my diet.
I stopped eating after 7 pm
I added a protein shake in the morning
I started walking 10 minutes a day
I switched from drinking pop to drinking lemon water
I bought light beer (low cal)
Just by switching a few things and incorporating new things I was able to easily shed a few pounds. Hope that helps!
