Losing weight, one diet at a time; one month at a time…
Weight Watchers Meeting Update
I went to the meeting on Thursday evening. There were more people there than I expected, but it is still the beginning of the year. It wasn’t a very “warm” crowd, but I was probably the only person there without at least one friend.
The woman that lead the meeting was a little long-winded, but she was ok because she was funny – funny goes a long way with me. I stayed after the meeting, as instructed, because I was “new”. After sitting in the after meeting, I realized that I really wasn’t “new”. I’ve been doing the program online for at least a year and I’ve done weight watchers in the past many times. So, I politely excused myself and went home.
I’m not concerned about the meeting so much, it’s the accountablity that I’m looking for.

I find having support (or using an accountability partner) when trying to lose weight only helpful if I am absolutely committed to shedding those pounds.

Thi is hysterical; the way you describe it it’s almost like your describing going to church by yourself. You’ve been there many times in the past but don’t know anyone personally… thus it’s really uncomfortable. Good luck finding a partner.

Next time, if the meeting takes place, make sure to take your partner with you.
The meeting is nothing more than a dating spot. If you are single, you have strong chances of finding someone, some people would be like you also there.

I really hate meetings especially if it is the same as the first one. But due to my profession, going to the meeting is a MUST and if i don’t i will probably start to find a new job. lol

Be interested to see how you progress. Having tried everything over the years to loose weight and every faddy diet in the book, a lifestyle change is the only way to loose weight and keep it of (IMHO). Best wishes.

HA! I know just how you felt! I went to my local Weight Watchers for months and lost 30+ pounds but never made a single friend. Everyone was there with a “buddy” or small group and no one seemed willing to break out of their cliques. Of course, maybe it’s just ME but there was very little socializing. Naturally, I went primarily for the info and support — NOT to make friends, but I always felt like an outsider.
By the way, I stopped going ($40 a month was a bit pricey for me) and gained it all back. I’m now finding my support system online.
We don’t need no stinkin’ WW meeting … we got each other!

At least you didn`t have to stand up, to say “My name is…, and I`m a recovering food junkie..”

Both of my parents had success with the Weight Watcher’s program. It’s all about portion control!
