Losing weight, one diet at a time; one month at a time…

Went to See ‘Up in the Air’ with George Clooney

I’m a big George Clooney fan and even if I don’t particularly like the movie that he’s in, I still usually like the characters he plays. I don’t think this was one of his best movies, but it wasn’t bad. It left me feeling empty, but I think that was the intent of the film.

It was in some ways similar to the Bill Murray movie ‘Lost in Translation’, but I thought that was a superior movie.

‘Up in the Air’ did have it’s good moments, but many of the events were predictable. There really wasn’t much of a plot, but I don’t think a plot is an absolute necessity in a movie. The sadness and lonliness of the main character were apparent. Ryan, the main character was the only character in the movie that was even close to being developed.

‘Up in the Air’ did make an impression on me, which is more than I can say for many of the unforgettable films I saw in 2009. And, George Clooney is never hard to look at.

  1. Hmmm, that has put me off watching the movie a little. I am here in Australia and the movie is just about to come out. I like George Clooney too… but I definitely do not want to feel empty after watching a movie!

  2. That was a sad movie…Finally fall in love only to find out she is a cheat..sounds familiar

  3. Thanks sounds like I will have to see the movie

  4. Great blog you have here. Very inspirational. I have a site as well which I hope will be a top resource for those looking for the motivation they need in order to lose weight. There are very little sites like ours out there.

I’d like to exchange links with you. Please let me know if this is possible under the “Best Weight Loss Websites” page. Until then, keep up the good work.

  5. I am so glad that George Clooney has become so popular, he has made being mature not just cool, but hot. It is such a relief to find women liking mature men, and not just ogling over the 21 year old guys you see on reality tv shows these days. Clooney makes it easier for people to date outside the stereotype box that some of hollywood tries to install in our minds.

  6. I’ll have to check it out. I love George Clooney, you’re right, he’s definitely not hard to look at, even in a not so great movie.

  7. I’ll have to check it out…I’ve been hearing good things about it.

  8. Yes, George Clooney has shown his ability for acting as best actor in this movie. I hope he will get Academy award for this year

  9. the Golden Globes, the Oscars — looks iffy. Not helping matters is the fact that the film is ineligible for the best foreign language film Oscar because France submitted Jacques Audiard’s acclaimed prison drama A Prophet instead.

  10. I just Oh Brother Where Art Thou the other night, that was a different than he usual Clooney character, though some of the charm still came through.

i was surprised to see the up in the air character disappointing moment at the cusp of personal evolution.

  11. I have seen this movie twice and personally I think it’s one of the best movies of the year.

I saw it at the same time as Avatar with my wife and we both liked Up In The Air better.

Must be because I am over 40 that I enjoyed it.

  12. ya clooney is the man

  13. It’s nice to see George continually getting his just rewards as an actor. Far too often the acting skill is overlooked because of “good looks”. Now its Brad’s turn to start getting the love.

  14. I just saw this movie and WOW I can easily say its one of the best films Ive seen this year at 1st I thought it was going to be another boring, cliche, romantic comdey…….but boy was I wrong this film has alot of heart & very important themes going for it about the way you choose to live your life either by yourself or by taking a chance with something new and Up In The Air offers us the Philosophy of whether were better off lonley or in a relationship when you see the end you’ll kno…

  15. George Clooney is my favorite actor! I watched all his movies! There are bad and good, of course! But he is magical and that is what attracts people, especially ladies!
