Losing Weight is Never Easy

This has been a difficult year so far as you can probably tell from the number of posts I’ve written. I think the economy has had a lot to do with our difficulties. We’ve been extremely busy trying to build our business or at least retain the bulk of the clients that we currently serve. All of this has had a negative effect on my desire to eat healthy foods. But I have not given up, I’ve just not done as well as I would have liked. All-in-all I’ve lost 9.6 pounds.

I’m still doing weight watchers and I still believe this is the best weight loss program for me. I do the online program, which lets me easily track the food (and points) that I eat each day. It reminds me to drink water, take my vitamins and also tracks the exercise I do each day.

I have incorporated a daily exercise regiment that works well for me too. Every other day I do about an hours worth of exercise on a “Wave” machine in  15 minutes. On those days I also do 1 mile of Power Walking with Leslie Sansone. The days that I’m not doing the Wave and 1 mile of walking, I do 30 minutes or 2 miles with Leslie Sansone.

For now - it’s working well for me considering the additional stress I’ve had in 2009.

  1. Hey - it doesn’t take much to fall off the wagon - WW can be quite helpful but I prefer to do my own thing - especially now summer is on the way, makes me want to eat less!

  2. You could try lifting weights in the gym. It’s a great way of losing weight - you get some exercise plus you develop your muscle a little (and more muscle = faster metabolism).

    perhaps must do exercise with friends to keep the spirit

    I have watched many people that though they exercise a lot to reduce their fat they can’t control their eating habits.I think its tough for those people to reduce their weight.

  6. I think that our economy has affected many people including myself. When you are stressed, you tend not to lead a healthy lifestyle. I also find that exercise helps - I love Leslie Sansone also and do her tapes when I can’t walk outside. What is the Wave? I have not heard of it.

    I LOVE Leslie Sansone. I only have her one DVD, but I have to check out others. And I love the belt that came with the DVD!

    The Wave - I googled it and didn’t find any sites that have the exact machine that I workout on. It’s a large, strange machine that works by shaking muscles while doing a variety of positions. They tell me that it’s good for strengthening and toning muscles and works WITH a weight loss and aerobic workout. They also said that a 15 minute workout is equal to 60 minutes of strength training in a gym. I sweat like crazy when I’m doing it, so I assume it’s doing something!

    As soon as I can find more info on the machine I’ll do a post on it.

  9. Atleast you still lost weight. I was down 25lb since new year’s but gained back about 10lb in the last month and a half. I keep telling myself that I’ll start again tomorrow, but we all know how that goes. Good luck on your business.

  10. well if you skip your routine such as exercise because of heavy work days, just maintaining your healthy diet will do, coz daily routine may serve as an exercise after all, even sitting while doing paper works for hours burns fats in your body.

  15. I lost kilograms using the rice diet. Before breakfast, the first day you eat one grain rice, the second day you eat two grain rice …. and you continue until you eat hundred grain rice for the day and then you minimize grain for one less every day. This is a simple and effective diet.

  16. Losing weight is never easy. I think the main thing is motivation. You have to be dedicated/motivated to lose the weight and stick to an option that works best for you. Incorporating different types of exercise is a good way to keep yourself motivated. This way you dont get bored of the exercises you are doing… I think that is crucial. Also, if you exercise with a buddy this is make you keep up or have them push you to complete a difficult task! All these methods helped me when trying to stay motivated!

  17. It is very hard to continue to eat healthy foods when your very busy most of the time. I struggle with this same problem, and often have to put my healthy dieting on hold.

  22. Exercises are the weight to go. Just do them on a regular basis, avoid junk food and you won’t need any diets

  23. Making changes is never easy, there will always be times when you want to revert back to your old routine. But if you stick with it you will get the results eventually, plus since you have lost weight, I’m sure more weight loss is to come! Just stay on target and keep working towards your goal.

  24. I agree loosing weight is never easy. I am also a little overweight and loosing some pounds is definitely harder than what everybody think of. I noticed that I get more weight if I’m stressed and pressured because I tend to eat much when I’m stressed. My cousin told me to eat small meals and not starve myself because if I do starve myself, I’ll end up eating much. I think this works for me.

  30. one simple advice to you people out there is be active walk and keep tension too away from you i m sure you will see lots of change in ur attitude and weight too and yah start jogging for 20 minutes

  32. I found that losing weight is not that hard as anyone would think. It sure takes commitment and following a simple plan but the key element is persistance.

    You need to monitor the calories, lose the junk food, sodas, sweets and do some physical exercises. I myself love dancing. And remember to use a fat burner to accelerate the fat metabolism.

  33. Stress from work can be a tough one to overcome, especially during a weight loss program. I try to set aside 15 minutes a day to relax (maybe do some yoga), it really works wonders for the rest of the day. Good luck!

  37. It sounds like you have a lot more discipline than most of us. I’ve been trying to hit the gym everyday for a month. No luck. I finally went out and bought a machine for the house. Im hopping to look good by winter… you have to start somewhere

  38. Rather I would say that loosing weight is not as tough as is to maintain results of rigorous weight reduction exercises.

  39. I have seen pleople triying tons of diets, but never starting an exc program. In my experience there is not a secrt formula, but its better when you combine a healthy diet with excercises.

  42. Thanks for sharing the story. I believe you can also try breaking your meals in 5-6 smaller ones. It definitely helps in weight loss as it stimulates your metabolism to become more active and reduce hunger also. Opt for fresh and natural foods as far as possible. Avoid canned and processed foods. Limit your carbs and eat more vegetables and lean protein and fresh fruits. Good luck in your weight loss goals.

  43. Exercise is the absolute best solution. Try finding a sport or activity that you think you’ll enjoy. If there isn’t anything you like - then a slow jog or brisk walk is just what the body is asking for.

  44. I think that they are exhausting exercise the best way to lose kilograms. All diets are torture for our body and lost kilograms quickly return.

Leslie Sansone works for me as well, but I noticed that with each exercise workout, it gets easier for me to complete, so lately, I’ve been also doing a South Beach interval training workout that I purchased online. Never had a CD that made me sweat so much; it’s equivalent to running on a treadmill or outside!

  52. 9.6 pounds, even that’s good I wish you keep on loosing them. I think it’s easy to lose weight but hard part is loosing the weight healthily and being consistent with it.

  53. Losing weight doesn’t have to be difficult, it can actually be quite simple, but you have to research proper techniques, proper diet, etc…

    If you just walk into a gym, hop on a treadmill, and count calories, you’ll get results, but they’ll be slow and painful.

    Consult to your doctor to find the safest exercise for you. Even walking to your office or school ( if your office or school locate just a few block from your home ). in the morning will give you a good result.

  55. Easy ways to lose weight fast really doesn’t have to be hard. Actually, most people already know how to lose fat. You simply need to eat right and exercise. However, too many times people look at one specific area of their body and only exercise that part. This might help to build up those particular muscles but generally won’t reduce as much fat as one would like.

  56. Being overweight is also caused by stress. And, exercising is really helpful. But, in order to reduce stress, I find doing needlepoint projects can also help alleviates stress.

  62. Stress can really bring weight loss to a halt. I find that when I am not stressed, I lose 1 to 2 inches in a week. Proper rest and drinking water helps a lot.

  72. I always believe in losing weight with the natural way such as exercise, eat natural foods that are not too processed, rest enough, etc. I could totally understand your feeling. When I’m stressful, I will eat food that are fattening and sweet such as chocolate (my favorite) or cheese cake. Those foods can help me to relax but not really helpful in losing weight.

    I’ll continue to lose my weight and will not give up too!

  74. Losing weight is all about one pound at a time. People look down the road to far. “I need to lose 40 lbs”. But it’s one of those things that comes one pound at a time. You should be celebrating every lost pound, but they look at how far they are away from their goal and end up quitting.

  78. I’m about to begin training again. It nice to find some. Sometimes people, most certainly myself included, need to be reminded about the importance of working the legs. When I first began weight training I did exactly as you mention in your article. I concentrated on upper body and neglected my legs. Just as you state, I am paying the price now and I need to play “catch up”.

It is important not to do drastic things looking for drastic results because we will eventually stop doing those things and the weight will slowly creep back.   83. I think one should start morning walk. It really helps in loosing weight. Besides, start going gym, stop eating junk foods, drinking more water, etc. also helps in it.

  84. Constant excercise is probably one of the hardest habits to establish but easily one of the most rewarding. For me I found healthier eating habits were easier to create and much faster…one of my favorites and im sure one of the most effective is not eating after supper at all…but make sure you have supper at least 3.5-4 hours before going to bed.   85. I’m vain when it comes to health and exercise. Although, I’m not fat but I really watch my figure. Since I gave birth, my body has changed a bit compared to my shape when I was still single. Based on experience, I find “after 6 diet” and exercise effective. In 2 weeks time, I got the figure I’ve always wanted. But, if you don’t have time to do active exercise, diet plus doing regular household chores like using a snow shovel in removing snow in your sidewalks and driveways produce the same effect. It burns out calories through muscle exertion when doing repetitive bending and lifting motions.

  105. Stress certainly does impact upon eating habits. When you are feeling down or under pressure you tend to do what is bad for you. You tend to move more slowly and take less exercise as well as eating more stidge.

    When you’re feeling good, you feel lighter and brighter and tend to eat accordingly and move in a more sprightly way.

  114. i try to religiously follow my workout between my office timings, as my office phas a small fitness section too… we have a small section where you can try stretching and little weights and joggers. now a days i dont get up for a jog, coz our boss is a fitness freak and he has provided us with the perfect environment to workout during long hours of sitting

    Motivation is easier achieved through extrinsic motivation. Plus, even if you aren’t interested in the stuff you are to do, you can still have the inclination to do it for the external reward. However, be warned that extrinsic motivation is not long lasting—take away the reward and you also take away motivation.

  129. I constantly battle with overcoming my relatively sedentary job. I work at home and it is behind a desk with little activity. This gets me in two ways: proximity to food & a secluded atmosphere which makes it easy for me to slip.

  131. I do not do well with stress and food. I am definitely an emotional eater! I wish I had the motivation to exercise, but it seems that the more upset I get with my weight, the more defiant I get towards exercise.   132. In my view, exercising probably can give you better results and can burn your calories much more than any other program. You can eat happily if you make sure you work out well. Atleast an hour a day and see how it feels. I lost a lot of weight by just hitting Gym regularly and apart from that, I used to avoid a bit unhealthy foods.

I remember not having had McDonald’s for several years when a roommate asked me to drive with her there and offered me a fry. After that one fry I started having urges for fast food-I definitely think there is something addictive in their food. I also follow a mostly vegan diet which really forces you to stick with only healthy foods-actually lost 10 lbs in about a month from this and don’t even crave the old food I use to eat.
