Losing weight, one diet at a time; one month at a time…

Losing Weight…. Slowly, but Steadily

Continuing in the right direction is what’s important to me when it comes to losing weight. I remember the days/weeks when I would drop 6+ pounds each week (especially in the beginning of the diet). I would get discouraged if I only lost 1 or 2 pounds. But not any more. I’m so happy to lose a couple ounces!

I’m so delighted with the Weight Watchers points program. It’s doable and I’m doing it. I’m fairly strict with the program during the week and I tend to “loosen up” on the weekends. We tend to go out to eat more often on the weekends and it’s more difficult to both – stick to the plan and accurately track the points I’m consuming.

Since I started the Flex program about five weeks ago – I’ve lost 9 pounds. And I’m sooooo happy with the progress because I know I can do this.

  1. Good job Lizzie. Congratulations on your achievement and I am proud of your self-confidence. Most people cannot accept the fact that dieting takes time, especially with work and other things that keep us busy. Keep up the good work. What a way to promote Weight Watchers.

  2. I find that it’s not so much dieting, but getting outside and excersising. Go luck in the mirror, are you happy with your body? Remind yourself about your goal. Also, never be happy with you body until you get in reasonable shape. I got pretty skinny and then started eating and not exercising and got fat again. You just gotta find what works.

  3. Congrats on losing 9 pounds, that’s GREAT! It’s good that you aren’t getting down about a slow week of weight loss, I used to do the same thing but you have to keep your eyes on the prize and stay motivated. Good luck and stick with it!

  4. Small steps are the way to go. What’s important is you’re doing something to reach your goal. Keep it up and best of luck!

  5. Sounds like Weight Watchers is a great program – keep up the good work!

  6. That’s a good positive attitude. I agree, if we always get down on ourselves, we go back to bad habits. That’s the key, rejoice in the little accomplishments!

  7. Congratulations on the weight loss. It’s also good that you do loosen up a bit on the weekends because then you will not face a big risk of getting off track by going on a big binge. If you’re very strict during the week with your food intake, and then relax on the weekends (and enjoy your treats) – you will still lose weight. All the best.

  8. Slow and steady is the best way to lose weight. Too many people go on radical diets and shed the pounds but then put it all on again when they come off the diet. Much better to eat properly and you’ll find you slowly lose weight and keep it off.

  9. Congratulations for losing weight, seems that program works better on you. Looking forward reading for more updates from you.

  10. I’m glad you are happy with Weight Watchers, a friend of mine says it does not work at all. But maybe she is not straight to the point as you are, so the fault is on her and not on the program.

  11. Hey congratulations! Keep up the good work!

  12. That’s great. Seems like the only thing I got to read here before was how diets fail. First time I’m reading that you’re doing good. Keep it up and the weight down. :)

  13. Every one wants to look good and lose weight regularly without fail.

  14. I’m happy for you Lizzie. Losing weight is a big accomplishment even thought that is just 1pound or 2..I’ve been trying to go on a diet and just had 2 meals in a day. I’m having difficulty since I tend to be hungry specially during night time. But still I’m not losing weight, in fact I’m gaining weight :(

  15. It is very important that you are only following the right kind of weightloss procedure or it can have side effects.

  16. It is better to loss a little of weight gradually than to loss a lot of weight in a short period of time.

  17. I am not sure this will work, But if it does well and good.

  18. Small steps are the way to go. What’s important is you’re doing something to reach your goal. Keep it up and best of luck!

  19. Good Job. I think small steps is the best solution to many things.

  20. wake up in the morning, take a glass of water, mix honey and lemon into it, and drink it…. works cool for me!

  21. Nice bog you have here. I pretty much lurk the internet when I’m bored and read all I can about the organic lifestyle, but I really liked you view on things. I’ll bookmark the site and subscribe to the feed!

  22. Well, great results must have great sacrifices.

  23. Hi,

I used to be pretty obese and started putting on a lot of weight especially on my thighs and bottom in my late thirties. I started exercising as often as possible and also cut down on a lot of high calorie stuff. Unfortunately I hardly managed to lose much weight at all. I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed that she managed to lose nearly half of her weight using a particular weight loss supplement. I tried it out and it actually worked quite well. Within 4 months I managed to lose about 65 pounds. The results were pretty amazing and I feel so much healthier and energetic now. I have linked my name to the lady’s site

  24. Consistency is very important in losing weights. Once you found a diet or a program that seems to be effective on you; you must stick on it. The technique that works on me is my green tea daily intake and my rice intake reduction; so I am consistent in doing these two.

  25. That’s an inspiring story, you could share it on my blog in the story section here if you would like to:
    http://healthfitnessreports.com/blog/category/my-story/

It is more important to have a diet that you can follow than one that produces quick results. Losing 1 to 2 pounds a week is healthier as well.

  26. Weight loss is really a change of lifestyle. And like most worthwhile things, it takes time and will involve peaks and valleys. Good luck

  27. Weight loss takes time. But be carefull

  28. I have seen many site for weight loss. This blog is really motivating. Thanks for sharing

  29. Hi Lizzie.

Just thought I’d drop you an email as the ‘weekend treats’ thing was something that I also found difficult to overcome, and whilst it sounds like you’ve made the positive steps needed to change your diet – everyone has a slip up now and then. :)

I used to be 16 and a half stone, I lost 4 stone relatively easily by cutting out the pizza’s I was eating late at night, 2 litres of coke I was drinking per day and sustituting fatty, calorie high foods for healthier versions as well as watching my daily calorie intake (1600/day to loose weight – I’m 5ft8)

But when I reached 12stone I seemed to plateu and not be able to loose anymore. I started taking a supplement called Proactol and, although I was hesitant at the start with all the dangerous diet pills around at the moment, It’s completely natural and I’ve had no side effects whatsoever. It simply absorbs some of the excess fat that you get from meals out meaning that you can have your cake and eat it! Lol.

It’s medically backed and has been proven to work. I’m nearly at my goal weight of 10.5 stone and hopefully will get there before Christmas. :) I might even use it as a weight maintainer over the Christmas period for those little indulgences that add up to half a stone in January. :)

Good luck with the rest of your diet.

    Izzy

  30. Its easy to gain weight but hard to lose weight. I agree we have to go slowly but steadily. Thanks for the useful information. Hope to see your new updates soon!

  31. That’s a good positive attitude. I agree, if we always get down on ourselves, we go back to bad habits. That’s the key, rejoice in the little accomplishments!

  32. Hello.

I like your site and wanted to know if you would be interested in exchanging blogroll links.

    Thanks in advance

  33. Weight Loss is definitely a matter of great concern these days. Most of the over weight people try to loose weight over night. I must say if they try it so rapidly then it can creat complecations for them.

  34. So many diets, so little time…. our Diets A to Z feature will help you understand some of the more popular plans on the market and decide which is right for you.

  35. I my self have lost weight about 33% of my actual weight but it took about one year to me to get the goal. I advise you to take your time and keep your eyes on the target.

  36. Yes, consistency is definitely key. Best of luck to you!

  37. No doubt Consistency is the most important factor in losing weights. Once you found a diet or a program that seems to be effective on you; you must stick on it.

The Green Tea Formula worked on me and my rice intake reduction; so I am consistent in doing these two. And I have lost weight significantly.

  38. I have never used the weight watchers program but have heard great things about it. Reading real life testimonies is great news for me.

I have been eyeing up the program for a review and possibly test run as I have a few unwanted pounds to shed!

  39. Congratulations on the weight loss. It’s also good that you do loosen up a bit on the weekends because then you will not face a big risk of getting off track by going on a big binge. If you’re very strict during the week with your food intake, and then relax on the weekends (and enjoy your treats) – you will still lose weight.

  40. Really dropping weight too quickly is a bad thing that will only lead to gaining it all back and then some more. If you look at recent winners of The Biggest Loser many of them have gained again. A slow and steady weight lose plan is the better way to go about it.

  41. Congratulations on the fat loss! .. people need to remember do things realistically for their lifestylel.. like fat loss shocker.

Its better to think about what works for you and then do the right fat loss diet etc. try to make it work with the foods you like to eat, how much time you can exercise etc…

  42. Hmmm nice great weight loss program My girlfriend gets discouraged a lot if she doesnt lose 10 pounds in a month . :)

  43. Glad to see your positive attitude towards weight loss. I think when it comes down to it, your attitude can be the deciding factor in obtaining your goal. Keep it up, work hard at it and don’t let anything get you down. Good luck!

  44. this info is really great and usefull

  45. Congrats on the weight loss! I’m am also trying to lose weight. I have been watching what I eat. I also play Wii fit and a game called We Cheer. I hate exercising, but the Wii makes it fun!

  46. i gained weight 3kg within 2 weeks ,:( .because i ate too much pizzas and sugar.i was very upset.but since now i start to do something to lose my weight.

  47. It’s a realistic goal that keeps things moving. Don’t lose too much too fast because it’s unhealthy. Take it slow and steady. You didn’t put the weight on overnight and it’s not healthy to take it off too fast!

    Congrats on the weight loss.

  48. Sounds like you’re doing very well..I have a cousin who uses WW and says it works well for her too, she enjoys the group sessions…Here’s to your success with your goals!

  49. I wish you the best of luck. You can be very proud of your self.

  50. Well done for losing 9lbs in five weeks. The slow but steady approach is definitely the way to go for healthy, permanent weight loss.

You seem to have a great attitude towards losing weight.

  51. Congratulations on fantastic progress! You must feel sooo good about yourself. You are right – you can do it. Just go slow and you will get there. Will check back again to see the next post.

  52. Congratulations on the progress. Actually the slower you lose the greater chances of keeping the new weight.

  53. Well done on a great site that is honest about what it takes to lose weight. Fianlly a site that doesnt promote the latest cheap pills but is realistic about what is needed to lose weight safely. It takes time, effort and a good and regular diet plan.Again well done

  54. Good job liz! It shows that losing weight is a matter of will!

  55. Glad to hear it is working for you. Unfortunately I have a friend that thinks starving herself is the correct method in losing weight. Sigh. Some people just won’t listen no matter how much you tell them.

  56. Great post. I love your writing style. Keep it up!

  57. Congrats lizzie, keep it up, the end result will make you feel sooooooo good. :)

  58. Great program ;) keep up the good work!

  59. Someone say big is beautiful ???

  60. Gradually the efforts which look small turn out to be a big one day. Cheers!!!

  61. Excellent Efforts done by you. congrats!!!!!….
Gaining weight so easy but Its very tough task to loose weight. Basically everyone can loose but no one follow daily routine for this. You are great that you have successfully achieve your goal. Keep it up….

  62. Congratulations for loosing 9 pounds weight. I think this particular program is really helpful to many others who want to loose weight.

  63. Losing 9 lbs is a great experience. I’m happy for you. Wish you could reach your target weight soon.

  64. All the best.:)

  65. Congratulations on such an achievement. It’s also good that you do loosen up a bit on the weekends because then you will not face a big risk of getting off track by going on a big binge. If you’re very strict during the week with your food intake, and then relax on the weekends (and enjoy your treats) – you will still lose weight. All the best.:)

  66. Great article! I learned alot from reading your blogs. What’s important is you’re doing something to reach your goal. Keep it up and best of luck!

  67. if you want to loss your weight in short time period than its good idea !!!

  68. Congrats with your weight lost! Try to keep your condition as long as possible.

  69. Congratz, just be focus and dedicated. You will reach your goal.

  70. Congrats on the weight loss. I have recently been diagnosed dioabetic and was looking into xylitol as a sugar substitute. It looks good, barring initial weaning to avoid diarrhoea. Does anyone have any comments about this as an aid to a heatlhy diet?

  71. Good job! Congratulations for this achievement.

  72. I started to lose some weight this month. Indeed is not so easy but i can make it. :)

  73. That’s right…easy does it! Remember that the tortoise wins the race. :)

  74. Congrats on all the success you’ve had! I’ve heard a lot about the Weight Watchers point program, I think my mom was on it for a while.

  75. I am not on diet but my wife is and see the same thing over and over again. One day she si super happy and the next day- moody, because she has just dropped “only” 1 pound. Somehow I can’t persuade her tht as long as she is loosing weigh she is ok

  76. Congratulations on your loss (kind of weird to say!)! Plugging away is the key, as eventually everything you are doing will become habit and you will wonder how you ever had the old habits you have!

  77. I would also look into metabolic typing. It basically shows how everyone has different metabolisms. You need to eat according to your type. I went to one and slightly adjusted my diet and lost 20 pounds in no time and have energy to burn.

  78. The Weight Watchers Program is really effective but only to those who follow its rules strictly. We are a family of ‘big’ men and women but I don’t want to inherit my mom’s and aunts’ clothes so I am always on the look-out for good diet programs. I hope I won’t have to resort to using diet pills so I’m playing badminton to ward off unwanted fat cells as long as exercise can. Thanks for giving inspiration for women like us. :)

  79. Im so happy to see your site, thanks for all the information you shared, please continue posting all the information you know.

  80. Hey that is great. Losing wieght is not a easy job so only we should be careful from the begining.Your ideas also are and i think they will be effective.

  81. That’s the spirit! Keep up the good work!

  82. Well done on your achievement. I have recently gone through a pretty tough time with chrons and all I can say is the best thing is to just keep plugging away, taking one day at a time.

  83. That is great that you are still doing ok. Little steps are better for you anyway and it shows this is more than a diet and a lifestyle.

  84. The key is to really write down your goals, track your progress, report them to a peer, and think about it what you want, day after day, after day.

  85. Congrats on losing 9 pounds, keep the good work up!

  86. Great job dear, congrates. You are becoming success in your aim. keep it up . I lost my weight just working on wii fit only for 20-30 min daily. I do yoga, aerobic, exercises all the work out and fun.

  87. Wow, I’m surprised that you lose weight that much in short period of time. And the main thing is you must not easily get upset when you lost only several pounds per week. Whatever it is, you have achieved what others are still struggling. Way to go, Lizzie!

    Regards,
    Cham Muska

  88. I hope you are continuing to make progress towards your goals. Good luck.

  89. I was told once that weight loss and investing were a lot like the same thing. You have to have goals, a plan to get there, and you’ll likely overestimate how much you can do in 3 months and way underestimate how much you can do in a year.

    Good luck,
    Bill

  90. First of all congrats for your achievement. When you have achieved it,then I have no doubt about this method. Even I will definitely try this out. Thanks for the advice. Great post

  91. First of all, great job on picking a weight loss method and sticking with it. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t seeing the results you desire right this minute as long as you keep on working towards you goal. Gook luck losing weight in the future.

  92. Congrats, and go go go, you can do it! :)
Soon you’ll have to change your header, even though I like it!

  93. Congrats on your accomplishment! It’s hard to make these types of changes in your life, but it is always very rewarding in the end. Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

  94. As diet plays a major role in all our life’s.We need to take care of our intake of food. Thanks for suggesting good tips..

  95. In Denmark there is a very popular product called Nupo – do you know this product in the rest of the World?

  96. I believe nothing good come in an instant, including weight loss. Consistency and patience is the key towards a healthy weight loosing. Do not trapped with any offer that tell you can loose weight in a week.

  97. You’re doing a great job! One trick I learned (from Weight Watchers) was to think of every 5lbs you lose as a sack of potatoes. Every time I’ve ever lost 5 lbs, I say out loud, “I lost a sack of potatoes!” It sounds corny, but it feels great!

  98. I am glad that you posses a good will power., There are many who do feel that weight loss programs are by no means helpful in any way. But you set an excellent example . I hope that you get the desired fitness that you are hoping for. All the best .

  99. Well done lizzie your weight loss is going in the right direction. For me, I find it difficult to sustain my diet, but overall my weight loss is going in the right direction, nearly a 14 pounds in a year :) . My tip is an obvious one, cut portion size and let your food hit your stomach. This means that you don’t eat with your eyes, something which I did all the time.

    Keep up the good work.

  100. Just found your blog, it’s very inspiring! Hope you come back and post an update! It’s been awhile!

  101. That is so true. It comes easy at the start, but the more we get to our target, the harder it is. A good idea, to keep motivated, is to have a pre-diet photo in view, makes you realise what you have achieved.

  102. What diet do you use? It is really a great achievement, congratulations. Even 1 pound in a week is an achievement!

  103. Hey congratulations! Keep up the good work

  104. Loosing wait is about control and dedication.

you have to control yourself and your diet and dedicate yourself to the gym and the gym will dedicate itself to you.

    you are what you eat!

  105. Hi, new reader =) Just wanted to say congrats, and to keep up the good work. I’m doing a low-fat diet (much like WW) combined with Alli. It seems to be working quite well, 3lbs lost this week and no nasty side effects. Also, Wii Fit has been helpful for me getting active (try the step classes!). Best of luck.

  106. People who lose weight successfully are those who were able to do it slowly but steadily. They are the ones who likely not to gain weight again because they did not starve themselves but were able to establish a moderate eating habit that works for them. So good luck to your weight loss journey.

  107. Have you tried Nutrion Powder?

  108. Losing 9 pounds within 5 weeks is great achievement. thanks for sharing.

  109. 9 pounds is decent progress for 5 weeks of dieting. I’ve found that using the cross trainer at the gym tends to be the best form of cardio exercise.

  110. Congratulations on continuing to loose weight, when you say “I lost 9 pounds” it might not seem like a lot, but in reality it really is, 9lbs of fat is a LOT of substance to loose from your body. It is very respectable that you set a goal and are sticking to it, keep it up!

  111. slow and steady is the best way so you can still eat nutritiously and get all the essential vitamins and nutrients.
    -jack

  112. You’re so dedicated in your health regimen that’s why you deserve the best result. In comparison with those who failed to adhere strictly with the method of dieting, they end up losers. So keep up and continue to become a good model to others who are still struggling to become like you…slowly but surely..becoming slimmer and slimmer.

  113. I remember when I was feeling like im too chubby and need to loose some weight

I tried a few natural medicines but they did not work, I thought may its because we dont usually find real natural medicines these days So i went on with the regular stuff like Jogging and working out to loose some weight

I also had a couple of physiotherapy sessions which really helped boosting up my stamina. I took a light diet, did not stopped eating anything just avoided more oily stuff and fried meat….

Also tried to eat more healthy stuff like fruits with less fat and skimmed milk.

And in the period of 2 months I remember I lost 20 Pounds

It worked properly for a guy like me who is busy in every day work and studies, I am glad that I only use to give few hours of the day to it and it worked.’

So yeh well said Slowly and more healthily is happens

  114. What’s up with your diet program? Well, just stick with it and I know that you will succeed in losing unwanted weights. Slow but steady weight loss is more effective and permanent :)

  115. I always fail in weight program … well it’s about discipline and consistensy …

  116. Personally, I believe that a combination of exercises, eating healthy, aerobic exercises, and weight lifting is the best way of losing weight and keeping it off.

Also, drinking lots of fluid a day. Then again, this is what I’ve been doing and it hasn’t fail me yet. Of course I’m still young.

  117. Weight Loss program surely needs dedication and Patience

  118. At the beginning of each diet or health loss program, it is difficult to follow it but soon we are familiar and addicted to that lifestyle. Along with that it is a big achievement. Here in Australia people are really really big and fat so I can see a lot of fat people around me regardless of everything.

  119. Lots of good tips in there, it is a process for sure.

  120. Good Job. I think small steps is the best solution to many things.

  121. Hats off to you for your determined effort in losing weight. In my opinion, weight loss requires lot of determination and patience because it is not a magical process. It also requires one to follow fixed diet regime and control the urge to eat. But many people fail in either of these and hence are not able to lose weight. In such a case they either prefer a weight loss surgery or diet pills. I am a strong follower of the effects of top diet pills and I frequently write about them on my Top Diet Pill blog.

  122. What is with this Weight Watchers points program? I hear everyone talking about it, but never tried it. Can anyone please explain me?

  123. Thanks for your testimony. This gives confidence to us to begin the process :)

  124. Yes, it’s better to lose weight slowly BUT steadily. It’s useless if you lose weight fast BUT then you gain weight again as fast as well.

We are not pursuing yo-yo diet… right? =)

  125. Slow and steady is the way I always find the most successful and maintanence friendly approach. Every time I find I pushed up a few pounds that’s the way I go, even though I can be so impatient to see that scale go back down! lol

Thanks for a great post and keep up the good fight!

  126. yeah, its all right..

i lose my weight approx 5 kilos in a week using water teraphy
you just have to drink water about 1,5 litres at once, just after you woke up in the morning. before you do anything, even before you brush your teeth.
in a week, you’ll see the results

  127. Congratulations to you. Losing 9 pounds within 5 weeks is not easy. I see you really put in effort. Keep up and maintain this desire.

  128. It’s so much easier for the weight to fall off in the beginning.. Keep up the good work though & you’ll get there : D

  129. Yeah, well done on the weight loss..i bet you feel amazing.

  130. Great job on your progress! The key to sticking with a diet, in my experience, is to not treat it like it’s even a diet. Instead, make it a lifestyle. Anyone can lose a few pounds on a diet in the short term, but it’s long term results that are the toughest to accomplish.

  131. Congratulations on losing! I’d also be thrilled to lose a few pounds! I’m trying right now to get rid of a great deal of weight myself. I hope you continue to lose!

  132. Great article! I learned alot from reading your blogs. What’s important is you’re doing something to reach your goal. Keep it up and best of luck!

  133. Slow and steady is the way I always find the most successful and maintanence friendly approach. Every time I find I pushed up a few pounds that’s the way I go, even though I can be so impatient to see that scale go back down! lol

  134. Sound like great weight watches program. Keep up your work………

  135. weight loss certainly does a bit of “the hair and the tortoise” element to it – it’s so easy to lose weight fast but so much harder to maintain a slow and steady weight loss campaign – 2 important ingredients of course are excersize and drinking enough water or fruit juice

  136. Now is the best time for loosing weight nowadays – when there is a crisis worldwide ))

  137. I agree with losing weight over time. I’m not into all the quick fix things. By the way, great site.

  138. Congratulations on your weight loss! Going the slow and steady route is always the best way to succeed in weight loss. That’s how it got on me, that’s how it’s going to get off of me. :)

  139. You betcha with the “slow and steady” route; It got on me that way, it’s getting off of me that way too.

  140. the Weight Watchers points program, is this really work?? i am also agree with losing weight slowly. thank you/

  141. Exercise should always be a significant part of any diet. You should not put 100% of your effort just in dieting with no exercising going on. Also, rapid weight loss can be achieved, but it shouldn’t be something that everyone should expect. Losing weight over time is a much better option as it is a much more realistic goal that you should be shooting for.

  142. Honestly I am trying to shed 30lbs right now so Im right with you and will be reading along the way

  143. Just keep it balanced. The hardest thing to do once off the wagon is to get back on. The weather is keepin’ me off the wagon. GRRR.

    Keep strong!

  144. Losing weight over time is an important goal. Many of us want the quickest results possible, but that isn’t always the healthiest way. I gradual reduction in weight is always best.

  145. I think you have a positive attitude about it, i think thats the hardest thing sometimes. It also just takes dedication and determination to be able to have longer term results.

  146. I think a better way to lost your weight is a personal diet and lots of sport…this shoul give better results!

  147. Last week, I started the 2009 National Body Challenge that Discovery Health kicked off for the new year. Some great exercise guides, diet tips, and recipes to start your new year on the right track! You can check it out and register for free here: health.discovery.com

  148. Good for you to lost 9 pounds. I never lost more than 5 pounds.

  149. Weight Watchers must be a great solution to a weight problem – I think I’ll give a try!

  150. Losing weight is all about eating healthy and exercising frequently!! It kinda sucks to admit but it is true that just taking pills won’t do any good. One of my friend also started the Weight Watcher program last year, and she looks amazing!! I guess Weight Watcher has a good program to put you back on a healthy life style.

  151. Losing weight the healthy way is the way to go. All fly-by-night methods are bound to backfire some way or the other. We have a body which responds to all kinds of abuse. And unconventional methods are bound to hurt.

There is no substitute for a fitness schedule and a healthy diet. Everything else is misleading

  152. Weight loss is really a change of lifestyle. And like most worthwhile things, it takes time and will involve peaks and valleys. Good luck

  153. I’m happy for you :) Losing weight is a long process and making it faster can not only destroy all the effects (yo-yo anyone?) but can also harm your health!
I have started working on my weight a while ago, I go to the gym 3 times a week and lose a steady 2 pounds/week. And It’s enough :)

  154. As you add protein to your diet, you will find yourself steadily cutting back on the amount of total carbohydrates that you’re eating. Scientific studies have indicated that starch actually makes you hungrier. This is why you will find that you will almost always eat a bigger portion of food if you drink a glass of soda pop with the food.

  155. You have to not only make sure you exercise at least 3 times a week, but make sure your diet is in check too – you can exercise twice a day everyday, but if your diet is bad, you won’t see any changes

  156. Slow and steady is the best way to lose weight. Too many people go on radical diets and shed the pounds but then put it all on again when they come off the diet. Much better to eat properly and you’ll find you slowly lose weight and keep it off.

  157. Hey, well done with the efforts so far. Its no mean feat to stick to a regime of counting the points up and watching the calories. It definitely makes sense to lose weight a small amount at a time as the weight is easier to keep off. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck going forward.

  158. See the problem is not just losing weight.. But keeping it off permanently.. Thats why weight loss programs should be looked at as a long term strategy

    My O2

    Bill

  159. Hmm my post didnt go through?

As I was saying, the problem with weight loss programs is they dont look at the lifestyle changes or long term strategies, to not only lose weight, but keep it off for good!

    Bill

  160. Congrats on the weight loss, slowly but steadily is important for several reasons. Firstly its the healthy way, rapid weight loss can cause health problems. Secondly rapid weight loss is more likely to cause stretch marks!

  161. Just forget about MCdonalds fastfood and your car – move, gor for a walk, less sitting near computer :)

  162. I think your strategy is right on..gradual weight loss is really the only sustainable, effective, and healthy way to go about it. Good luck!

  163. It certainly takes time, its good to accept progress in baby steps and it will seem like the hard work is paying off faster, that’s my advice!

  164. Stay with it! I haven’t read your whole blog, but I wonder if you’ve tried resistance training. In addition to burning calories, it helps with bone density.

  165. I agree with losing weight over time. I’m not into all the quick fix things. By the way, great site.

  166. Good for you. Lost 9 pounds isn’t easy.I lost 2-3 pounds no more.

  167. I’ve started to exercise this year. It’s better to lose slowly. When I was doing WW people would get so discouraged because they were only losing 1 lb a weight.

I never understood how losing a 1lb was a bad thing.

  168. good weight loss , i wish you will success soon.

  169. What more important is self confidence, all are rest and you have it. When i was looking for solution ,someone on OySite suggested me this blog and its very helping for me

  170. Slow and easy is the only way to go. You might want to look into how combining different foods effects your health too. Sometimes we eat the wrong mixes of food and it causes more problems than we know about. Toxins are released into the GI system and result in some significant disease processes. I understand this is new tech but there are some articles out there that deal with it. Just thought you could use this in conjunction with your slow diet. Don’t try to lose too much at one time. It’s not good for you and it does’t work very well over the long term.

  171. Nice to see you making progress. I’ve always been a little apprehensive about weight watchers as a weight loss program. I know it works but people need to learn how to do these things for themselves and become self-sufficient instead of relying long term on a program like this.

  172. Great things start from small beginning, right? I think you are on your way to achieving the desirable body weight so just continue doing what you have started–continue doing the healthy way of living. If you want to know more about loss weight programs & loss weight tips, the link I provided might be an important resource also.

Thumbs up for your post. It’s great!

  173. To lose weight and to keep it off, it is vital that you are motivated, really want to lose weight, and want to improve aspects of your lifestyle. Some people lose weight by strict dieting for a short period. However, as soon as the diet is over, they often go back to their old eating habits, and the weight goes straight back on.

  174. Unfortunately, we live in an “immediate gratification society” that insists on losing 10 lbs today. Your article should be a great example that fast weight loss is not the way to go and it is not only the loss of weight but the good health that accompanies it that should be the goal.

  175. Losing weight is really a hardware. Just don’t forget to monitor your health and heart. Best Regards to everyone.

  176. Congrats !
On the weight loss, slowly but steadily is important for several reasons.
    Thanks for sharing the article.
    Keep up posting……………………………….. :)

  177. Yes one should have patience to lose weight and hard work is necessary, lots of people loose patience if their weight is not lost in quick time and its nice to known that u lost few pounds and this should be inspiration for others.

  178. I used to be overweight, and stories like this are always motivating. Keep up the good work.

  179. Even though I’m trying hard not to get discouraged when the weight doesn’t come off like I think it should, it’s not easy. Giving in to the negative thinking is a habit I’m trying to break. But it’s so ingrained into my behavior, it’s my first reaction. So I’m celebrating my loss even this mere half-pound as a victory.

  180. An excellent way to get going is to assess the amount of food you are currently eating. Just begin in the morning when you get out of bed and have breakfast and live out your day without making any special considerations.

  181. In my point of view Attempting to eat just exactly the same as you would normally be eating on any other regular day without changing anything, and record all the things that you are putting in your mouth plus the exact quantities that you have. I’m sure you’ll find that this project calls for a high level of drive and determination from you. You will need to remind yourself of your resolution to do this weight loss program the healthy way, and to stick to a level-headed diet method.

  182. Same boat over here. Celebrate those little victories, they’re the ones that pays off in the end.

  183. Well done your efforts, Problem is not just losing weight and put up wight. But it is keeping it permanently, so weight loss programs should be looked for long term strategy

  184. Losing it slowly is definitely the way to do it. Anything more than 2 pounds and your losing muscle. A good tip is to weigh yourself with scales that also tell you your bodyfat percentage.

How much body fat you are carrying is much more important than what you weigh. I’m seeing fantastic results how on a diet of 50% carbs 30% protein and 10% fats.

  185. I have been dieting for a few years… the worst part is when I go on vacation, or sit at home all day. Losing weight slowly is the est way to do it, keep up the good work!

  186. I’m just getting ready to start back up with Weight Watchers. It is the only program that has ever really worked for me. They have an online program that’s great!

  187. Working at a desk all day has definitely caused me to put on the pounds. At this point, I feel like my health is at stake. Planning on getting out and walking now that the weather is better.

  188. Just remember that most of the weight you lose in the first few weeks is water, not to be a downer or anything, sounds like you are doing a great job.

  189. Good job, losing 9 pounds in only 5 weeks is really good. You’re definitely on the right track with your mentality, gradual weight loss is better and more realistic than expecting to suddenly lose a lot in a short period of time. Keep up the good effort!

  190. I have heard mixed reviews from weight watchers. I am glad to hear that it is working good for you. I am currently trying that p90x workout and diet. I find that the workout is great, i have lots a bit of fat and turned it into muscle. I find the diet part is the hardest. Its easy to motivate my self to do the workout, but to follow the diet is a problem for me.

  191. That’s awesome. i’m trying to lose weight too.

  192. Yes, it’s always advisable to lose only one or two pounds a week. Our body is very smart and does not like sudden changes. Keep up the good work you will do it.

  193. My friend did Weight Watchers but she did the Core Plan and she lost a ton of weight that way too. The key is to adopt a new way of eating. Completely. You can’t just “diet” and then go back after you lose weight. You have to change your whole outlook on food!

  194. Over the past year I gained a lot of weight. Why? Because I’m spending to much time working in front of the PC therefore I haven’t had time for sports. This month I began playing football (soccer for US people) again, and again, and again. You can already see the results.

  195. See the problem is not just losing weight.. But keeping it off permanently.. Thats why weight loss programs should be looked at as a long term strategy

  196. Weight loss is one of the biggest concerns of health care today. This post will help and motivate them to do so. Good post!!

  197. Ya, thats good. My wife finally lost 16 pounds. She did the diet of eating very little for a month. It works but isn’t the healthiest choice obviously lol.

  198. Diet’s never work in the long run. Complete lifestyle change is the only way to successfully lose and keep it off for good. People have to learn to love being active again. People have to learn to love healthier foods as they love mcdonalds. Food is an addiction as much as smoking or crack… Possibly worse. Being lazy in our North American society has also become an addiction. It’s bred into us by informercials and drug companies. Look at the Roomba, car washes, molly maid. They take away your ability to do something that requires you to actually MOVE. I can rant on for a year on this topic :P

  199. This is great post. Thanks for sharing.

  200. Both my husband and I have been through this rollercoaster journey of weight loss. But the rewards are awesome so hang in there!

  201. To lose weight effectively one must do it consistently. That’s why it is very important to have a strong self-discipline to achieve your desired goals.

  202. Excellent stuff, i agree it’s harder to be strict on weekends but after doing some research over a number of sites it recommends giving yourself a treat or two anyway on the weekend, because your more inclined to keep to your diet if you slack off for at least 1 day out of 7

  203. Thanks! Keep up the good work!

  204. Congratulations on your weight loss. I know it’s hard losing the weight…but it does take time. I always say that it took time to gain all the weight I gained…it will definitely take time getting it back off. Keep up the hard work!

  205. wow this is really great….its amazing….keep it up you are doing great job…thanx for sharing…i am looking forward for this programme as well…..

  206. Thanks for the useful tips and resources

  207. I don’t prefer quick weight loss. They may make you slip in a short span of time but leave you with lot of side effects. Instead, go for a weight loss program that makes you fit and healthy at slower pace.

    -Mini

  208. Slow and steady always wins the race hands down.. Those who try to get a quick fix method always find themselves at the wrong end of the stick.

There is no substitute for hard work. It always pays. :)

  209. Congrats on the weight lost!

  210. Nice to read the comments.

  211. I didn’t know about this dieat, I’m very glad to read about that.
    Continue with the good posts.

  212. I’m surprised that Weight Watchers has worked out so well for you! I hadn’t heard many great reviews, but to each their own, I guess.

The one thing I will mention is that I’ve heard questions about the food-portions, and what all they actually GIVE you as opposed to what you have to go buy yourself in addition to the program. Have you had a negative experience with this, or is that not a concern for you?

  213. I’m glad you are happy with Weight Watchers, a friend of mine says it does not work at all. But maybe she is not straight to the point as you are, so the fault is on her and not on the program.

  214. never be happy with you body until you get in reasonable shape. I got pretty skinny and then started eating and not exercising and got fat again. You just gotta find what works.

  215. You definitely want to be losing it slow, rapid weight loss is mostly water and muscle.
A good amount of weight to lose each week is 1 to 2 pounds. Start a diet and exercise program that you can easily fit into your life and your more likely to succeed over the long term.

  216. Healthy diet spread through the day, not night. Eating the right food out of habit rather than as a fad, can work wonders for an extra middle. Keep the calories light and spread out through the day rather than bunching them all at night and then sleeping on it, when the body’s metabolic rate is the slowest.

  217. slow but sure…i like this

  218. Loosing Weight is hard work… I think we can all agree on that!

  219. Yes eat healthy during the day and not much after 5pm.
Try it you’ll be amazed how slim you feel in the morning.

  220. @Graviditetstest….I’m soo agree with you, we must hard work

  221. Losing weight does not have to be looked at as an impossible goal. If you think of your diet plan and exercise routines as habits they will become just that. Then it becomes second nature and you will never have to think of it as a feat you cannot conquer.

  222. Congratulations ;)

  223. Congratulations on the success with your diet! Sounds like you have found a program that is right for you! Finding the right “mix” of things to do in order to loose weight and to keep a healthy lifestyle is half the battle.

  224. I find that if I think of things as a diet, then I’m less likely to stick with it, cause diet to me is short term. Where as if I view things as a lifestyle change I’m more likely to hang with it. P90X is a great program if you follow it. Good luck with continued success

    P90X

  225. I commend you for such a great work. Losing weight was never easy. Congratulations!

  226. So I am on my 5th day of the ultra light diet (no dairy version) and I feel lighter already. However I have been a long time sufferer of migraines and am afraid that I may be allergic to the “shakes” because I have had 3 migraines within the last 5 days. I also have a bad back so it is hard for me to exercise. Any thoughts?

  227. Weight Watchers is a good sensible plan, you should see good results, has the weight continued to come off?

  228. Well done! :)

  229. Thanks for post, I’m trying to loose my weight, but it’s impossible :/

  230. Just like today i was watching a gorgeous lady who weighted over 300 pounds, and in a period of two years she has managed to lose 160 pounds by eating raw food, her story is quiet amazing.

  231. Excellent!

  232. Its good to be slim. Fatty people have the risk of heart attack , breathing problems ,various abdominal problems, and other body problems. I think its good to go steady in losing body fat by monitoring all the process carefully.

  233. I have had several people know do the WW points program and loved it. Thanks for the thoughts.

    Nate

  234. Losing weight requires a lot of hard work and even more than that, determination is needed….But remember, no pain, no gain.

    Tommi @ RN-BSN

  235. like most of you saying Weight Watchers is the most effective weight loss program, I ill go ahead and try it miself.

  236. I was 127 Kgs previously…and one person told me about yoga and he had some tips about that too….now after 7 months I am only 73 Kgs.
So I would like to suggest you to go with yoga as its not harmful and no medicines are to be consumed…no chemical things…its all natural….

  237. There has Lot of Programs are there to get weight lsoe . but I m referring just Play Skipping and Do walk for 3 Km every day … you can see the results within Few weeks.

    regards,
    http://www.weightlosetips.info

  238. What a good philosophy Lizzie- I think this is a much more effective approach to losing the excess weight! Way to go, I hope you have some real success with this as you sound like you’re committed to seeing solid results :)

  239. Key points are doing at least 30 minutes of cardio every day, 30 minutes of weight training at least 4 days a week, eat every 3 hours from morning till night, NO sugar, nothing processed, low fats and carbs, and take your vitamins.

  240. Positive attitude is good so keep it up! I will do the same thing in my diet too.

  241. I’ve had great luck with Weight Watchers before. I also did the “Hackers Diets” (google for it, basically it’s watching calories and tracking everything).

  242. Congratulations on your successful weight loss! You certainly have the motivation. I know you’ll continue to do well! ;-)

  243. One of friends always say that she want to lose weight, but everytime she stick to the plan just for two or three days, and gives up. We should keep our plan steadily!

  244. Another job well done.

  245. One or two pounds a week, that’s all I ever hope for or ask for. You do sound encouraging :)

  246. Well drink 5 glass of normal water.I am sure its effects is fantastic.
I tried it.It works and lose your wait.
    Try it ;)

  247. Congrats – its surprising how losing several pounds can completely lift one’s spirits and give a whole new outlook on life. It is these holistic and often intangible effects which are often overlooked. Go girl!

  248. Everybody thinks that Weight Loss Surgeries will just FINISH their weight problems, but they have to think that surgery will only work if you help it, a diet and a training program are also needed to achieve good and long lasting results, thank you for your advice and motivation.

  249. I also love the flex program. I didn’t lose any weight for 7 weeks even though I was eating only 1500 calories a day and working out 5 days a week. As soon as I joined weight watcher’s the weight started dropping and I am losing 1-2 pounds every week! I love it!

  250. i completely agree, all those who try to lose weight fast , they regain it faster

  251. this is the way you should go !

  252. Congratulations on your successful weight loss! You certainly have the motivation. I know you’ll continue to do well! ;-)

  253. I’m surprised that Weight Watchers has worked out so well for you! I hadn’t heard many great reviews, but to each their own, I guess.

  254. Congratulations! It’s best to lose weight slowly. Losing it too fast can put too much stress on the body and be counterproductive to your goals.

  255. Congratulation, i now the difficulty of weight loss. I´m trying and trying with a lot of diets, programs… but i can´t.
    good post

  256. I’m really thrilled for you, keep up the good work. Now that you’re seeing success, I bet that’ll only make you stronger and more focused for what come next. I created a site on how to loose weight quick. Check it out if you have some time.

  259. A really great for you so – you;d better forget the road to McDonald’s – and everything will go better!

  260. I hope you are continuing to make progress towards your goals. Good luck.

  261. Exercise and diet are both vital for losing weight. You can’t focus on one at the expense of the other. Cardio and Weight training are both essential to get the most out of a workout.

  262. Excellent post. To lose weight effectively one must do it consistently, that´s the key!

  263. losing weight is tough … My purpose for this new year is to lose weight, I hope to get gradually

  264. I have made a new years resolution of losing atleat 40 pounds this year. I know it may not sound like much but it will make a big difrence in my life! What are your goals?

  265. Losing weight slowly and steadily is definately the right way to go. As already stated consistency is the key to long-term weight loss.

  266. Well done for losing 9lbs in five weeks! Your slow but steady approach is certainly the right way for healthy, long-term weight loss. Your attitude towards losing weight is commendable.
