Losing weight, one diet at a time; one month at a time…

Wii Fit – An Incredible Experience!

Wii FitI fully understand the huge importance of daily exercise. I’ve seen the results in my body, mind an spirit. It helps me when I’m depressed; it helps me stick to a healthful diet; there is NOTHING that is bad about exercising. But – I HATE IT!! I have to force myself to do it. Sometimes, in the past I get in to a groove where I actually like it for a period of time – but that doesn’t usually last long.

I’ve had exercise partners along the way – and generally that helps me keep going. I’ve been partnered with the Emperor and my mother and I’ve even used a personal trainer. The personal trainer was great because she made me feel accountable. We now live in the middle-of-nowhere and have no access to personal trainers or even a gym that’s close by. Most recently I was working out with my mother at Curves. That actually lasted about 4 months!

My mother’s birthday was a few days ago and we decided that a great gift for her would be the Wii Fit program. What an amazing gift that was! Not so much for my mother – but for me. She’s still trying to get into the groove and make it work for her – and she will. I created my profile and did the “Body Test”; set up goals and started a few of the programs – and I LOVE IT!. I don’t remember ever looking forward to exercising like this before. I’ve beat everybody’s high score! I’ve already lost weight! And I can’t wait to do it again!

As for my body test results – I was happy to see that I’m only overweight and not obese. But my Wii age is 75! I’m older than my mother in Wii years! That was seriously discouraging – but at the same time a great motivator.

For anyone that struggles with exercising – I highly recommend trying the Wii Fit. It’s amazing!!!

  1. Yes, I am having fun with it too. I had a good time with the Yoga this morning while you were sleeping. We can go online with it and have a workout group as well…maybe some of your readers would like to compare workouts?

See my Mii…look forward to seeing him in your dreams…lol…actually..I will have a hard time keeping up with your scores if they are anything like your hula hoop score…great job.

  6. Wii Fit is just plain great. It gets people up and moving and having fun at the same time. It makes everyone happy. Plus its friendly to weigh loss and other activities such as body building.

    I ‘stumbled’ the article :)

  10. Its a good idea if you live out in nowhere. But there is still a lot of benefit by getting exercise outdoors, like walking or jogging. I know that when I am stressed out, just getting some fresh air does wonders. The exercise is icing on the cake. How do you get to be 75 in Wii years anyway? Based on body weight only? Sorry, I haven’t bought a Wii yet so I don’t know these things.

  11. I have never done as much exercise in my entire life! And I ached for days….

  12. That’s great. Who’s the Emperor? Or is that just a manner of speaking?

  13. Lol you guys seem to be having a lot of fun lets wait and see if more of this kind of stuff shows up in todays market

  14. I get on it everyday after work. It has been a month now and I have already dropped 4 lbs. I love this thing!

  15. I’ve been so curious (and tempted). Thanks for the review! Maybe a Christmas present idea… must start dropping hints.

  16. I haven’t purchased a Wii yet. I’ve been considering it just for the fitness programs. I’d love to see some pictures of the various activities and how you use them.

  17. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but from what I’ve heard from my friends, Wii fit is really fantastic. I remember when making exercises was (and it still is) more of an everyday’s burden, but with the help of this program, exercises are becomeing more of an entertainment than something you wouldn’t like to do.

  18. Tried the Wii and it’s a fun game. Any exercise is better than no exercise. But I’m biased towards running. I know, I know, it seems so tough. Just take a look; read and maybe the run bug will bite. You won’t be sorry.

  19. The Wii Fit is a great way for people to lose weight and have fun while doing it… unfortunately it’s been hard for a lot of people to find. I wish Nintendo would stop creating false shortages to build up hype.

  20. Great info – keep up the great work.

  21. The evolution of nintendo… such a thing of beauty. thanks for sharing.

  23. I have yet to try Wii Fit, but I have heard almost nothing but good things about it. Definitely sounds like it helps with the motivation factor.

  24. I so want a wii! It’s on my list of things that I’d be happy to receive for Christmas. I need something fun to motivate me to get up and move, I tend to get stuck in a rut doing my walks.

  25. i will introduce the The Wii Fit to my friends.thats interesting.

  26. I love my Wii Fit – it’s great that you can get fit while having fun – though I have to admit I started to get bored with it after a while – you can’t mix things up enough and I get tired of waiting between exercises. I wish someone would release a follow up game where you could program in an exercise plan and work through it without the annoying stop start.

  27. I’ve used it for a couple of weeks but eventually got tired of it. Now my daughter is the one wearing it down.

  28. Just bought Wii Fit with along my Home Fitness“>home fitness. I’m a gamer geek and fitness instructor :)
Game consoles now days really help us healthy, don’t they?

  29. Great post! I love this website. Thanks for the useful information!

  30. The wii fit is amazing indeed. Just thinking about the kind of technology that they employ in this game is unbelievable. I think I started out at 63 years old and now at 32 :)

I love the downhill slopes and the hula hoop, lol

  31. The Wii Balance Council could see how a set of scales futuristic, but is actually a pressure-sensitive controller. It is designed for interactive exercises and drew the attention of health and medicine which are interested to know how the Council Balance Wii could be used to help patients with rehabilitation and recovery of some injuries.

  32. The Nintendo Wii is a unit very popular and can be extremely difficult to find in stock. You can find ‘trap’ a lot in games, and you will not receive more than half decent workout. You would be much more successful if tied to certain running shoes and went for a jog.

  33. I haven’t purchased a Wii yet. I’ve been considering it just for the fitness programs. I’d love to see some pictures of the various activities and how you use them.

  34. I believe they truly have invented something fun yet healthy.

  35. Wii is appealing to families, children, seniors, and both males and females. Because of this the wii has more opportunities to sell, and thus more of them end up being brought home.

  36. We just got the Wii for our children over Christmas. They have enjoyed it immensely. My one daughter has asked for the Wii fit. In fact, she pointed out today that it was on sale. I might just have to get it someday soon.

  37. The thing about excercise is if you don’t enjoy it then its very hard to keep up. I used to be not that into it until I started doing krav maga classes. It’s a form of self defence and is a lot of fun but also really good excercise. I’d say try lots of stuff until you find something you like. Wii fit is kind of cool but it’s probably better to find something more substantial to base your routine around.

  38. Wii is definitely a great addition to a home gym. It makes working out fun and motivating.

If you have been finding it hard to get yourself to start exercising, maybe it is time that you start off with something simple and fun like Wii.

  42. You gotta love that Wii! I don’t own one yet but I have played it at several of my friends houses and that thing is so addicting. I haven’t played the Wii fit yet but I keep hearing it truly is an amazing device. Now I’m really eager to buy it!

  43. I wish someone would release a follow up game where you could program in an exercise plan and work through it without the annoying stop start. I’ve been considering it just for the fitness programs. I’d love to see some pictures of the various activities and how you use them.

  44. We’ve seen amazing results already. Best investment I’ve made this year. Buy this now. You won’t regret it.

  45. wii fit is a good body fitness program online. it has a combination of fun and fitness. it can greatly help people in achieving their desired built through moves and balance.

  46. Thanks for good tips. I prefer self such as exercise, fitness

  47. I’ve lost over 10 lbs on the Wii! I sometimes forget it’s actually burning extra calories, which, at least for me, is half the trick!

  48. Interesting, I’ve never really looked at video games and exercise together.

  49. The thing with the ‘wii fit age rater’ is that it is based on reaction times. For those of us in the 40+ actualy age category we have not been brought up on games consoles and therefore our reaction times and manual dexterity are not suited to the technological-age.

  50. I subscribed already hoping to lose weight soon! Thanks a lot for your Blog I’m very much inspired by this.

  51. Really liked this though it really gets tiring after awhile.

  52. I think it is great that you found a program that you love. I have the hardest time getting myself to the gym. I don’t have a problem working out once I’m there, but if I don’t make it there, then I don’t work out. I want to get a Wii. We have a playstation 2 but they don’t have a fit program:(

  53. Found these informations worthy as i am looking for this type of posts. A lot of useful tips on home gym to be absorbed from this post. Thanks a bunch for sharing. Looking forward to reading your next article. Keep blogging.

  54. The wii is fun and can keep you active more than just watching a movie or playing regular video games.

  55. At us in Russia only not for a long time have appeared Wii. Very fascinatingly in it to play. Also it is the most fascinating game.

  56. Wii fit is tons of fun for any family or individual. With childhood overweight becoming an epidemic the Wii Fit acts as a great way to keep kids interested while getting some physical activity. Keep up with the exercise until it becomes habit. Try to switch up you routine if you get bored or do something fun that requires being active. Sometimes when I watch tv I get up and do a few crunches or push-ups during the commercials.

  57. Very nice tips! Wii is really a fun game. Thanks for sharing so much interesting things about this.I was looking for this type of post.Thanks.Keep up the good works.

  58. I don’t own a wii, but after reading this blog i am thinking of getting one. Because now i see this is fun and exercise thanks for this post.

  59. Daily exercise improves muscle strength and flexibility, each muscle group is worked separately and movement becomes easier and muscles less flabby as they shorten and strengthen.

  60. If you hate the exercise, then it might be time to try something new. I used to hate exercising myself and until I finally found something that I looked forward to doing everyday.

So, try some new stuff and have fun with it.

    Good Luck…

  61. I really think this is the way to go, Strength then Aerobics, then Yoga. I have ability to put more of myself into the aerobics and the strength training than vice versa. I love to do exercise.I don’t own a wii, but after reading this blog i am thinking of getting one.

  62. I agree that the Wii Fit is a great way to get into shape and the exercises performed are effective. Most people think that they need to go to the gym to get results but there is plenty you can do right at home. Wii Fit is a prefect example of this.

  63. I have to agree with the last post. I am a physical therapist and I have found that my patients hate to exercise. So, I have to figure out what I can get them to do. A lot of them ask me are there exercises to do at your desk, and I have to tell them that that’s not the best attitude. While staying active at your desk will burn some calories, the easiest way to get some exercise in is to find something that you really like to do that keeps you moving. That may be going to the mall and doing some window shopping. As long as people regard exercise as work and not recreation, no one is going to to want to do them, you know?

  64. This is my corrected comment!!

  65. There are so many forms of exercise available to try for most people maybe if going to the gym isn’t the right one for you try something different. If you hate going you have already lost the battle long term because you wont stick to it.

  66. Great post. For anyone that struggles with losing weight, doing something like the Wii Fit is a good introduction to the world of health and fitness. Losing weight is something that is gradually done, and perhaps things like Wii Fit can become the stepping stones that lead to more intense, or at least more activity that is able to Shed Fat . This is an interesting post because it shows that something like the Wii Fit can be used to introduce people to a fundamental aspect of life.
