Losing weight, one diet at a time; one month at a time…

A Fresh Start Losing Weight

Again.

My girlfriend and I have had a difficult time really getting together to work on the Faithfully Fit book. Our plan was always to do it together thinking that the buddy system would benefit us both. The summer is always crazy. She has three young children all home from school during the summer and they do lots of traveling as well. I have four kids, but only two of them are in school (the other two are grown).

She came up with a plan that would work to insure that we make the time to work on the book and our weight loss goals. We signed up our 12 year old daughters for an indoor field hockey clinic. It meets once a week and while the girls are getting in shape and having fun playing field hockey - we can work on our goals.

I started my day at the gym with a 25 minute workout. I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and I feel good. I know that slips will happen and that’s ok. As long as I’m working towards the weight loss goal and making healthy food choices. AND I have a new commitment to DRINK WATER.

I’ve had more comments about drinking water than anything else. I have to work on my addiction to diet lemon Snapple. I love that stuff. I always thought that because it doesn’t have any calories that it was fine. BUT it’s replacing water and that’s not good. So, it’s a new day; a new week and this is my goal for the week:

1. 64 oz. of water each day.
2. no more than 1200 calories each day.
3. no less than 1100 calories each day.
4. workout at least 20 minutes each day.
5. journal once each day.
6. write one blog post each day.

That’s all.

  1. Good to see you back on track!

  2. I don’t remember even how many times I tried to loose my weight, but since I was addicted to McDonalds, it was very hard for me to loose weight, but since I watches the movie Super Size Me, it changed my life, I started hating McDonalds, and finally started loosing my weight, Hurray. Hope you too get successful in loosing your weight

  3. Good luck with losing weight and keep up the good work.

  4. Seems that both of you are very sincere. So you could able to back in the track. Now try to follow the menu. Thanks a lot.

  5. I know you can do it.

  6. I’d open up the calorie range a little; 100 calories isn’t enough wiggle room. And a tip, 64 oz equals roughly a 2 liter bottle, so fill one up everyday and ‘fridge it.. Drink it in larger glasses, and it wont seem that rough. If you use a 16-20 oz glass, I’ll bet you’ll find you can drink even more. It’s all about perception :-)

  7. Hey Lizzie,

I’ve found that the best thing for losing weight, or fat loss at least, is cutting down on carbs, especially simple sugars. And then of course eating enough good protein to maintain your muscles and immune system. It’s hard to cut back on carbs, especially with my sugar cravings, but drinking flavored protein powder really helps my sugar cravings, since it has a sweet flavor. And the more I drink it the less sweet stuff I want. Hope that helps…

  8. Hi Lizzie,

Keep it up, don’t lose the goal!

    5. journal once each day.
    6. write one blog post each day.

  9. Anybody tried Lipodrene before ? It seems that it receive a pretty good rave around. I’m almost 200 lbs, and I seriously need some weight loss.

  10. Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to read this article. We know that your time is valuable, and aim to give you the most value possible for the time you invest in reading our article. We have put together a 5 step success plan for losing weight.

    Step 1: Goals

The first step to achieving the healthy body you deserve is setting goals. I’m not talking about vague goals like “I want to lose weight!” or “I want to look better in the mirror.” I am talking about specific goals, such as “I want to lose 5 kg in one month.” or “I want to lose 2 pants sizes in 2 months.” In setting goals, it is important to both make them a challenge and make them attainable. To lose 1 kg per month would not be much of a challenge & to lose 50 kg per month would not be attainable.

    Step 2: Breaking it Down

The second step to achieving the healthy body you deserve is breaking your goal into smaller pieces. If your goal is to lose 40 kg in one year try breaking it down into losing 3 to 4 kg per month. If this still seems too high, break it into just 1 kg per week.

    Step 3: Choose a Program

Now that you have clearly identified and broken down your goals, you are ready to choose a program. We have found Fat Loss 4 Idiots to be a real winner. It has been our # 1 seller, and we have received lot of positive feedback from our customers regarding the program. You can find it on our Weight Loss page.

    Step 4: Exercise

One ingredient that is often missed in weight loss programs is exercise. Though you can lose weight without exercise, physical activity greatly improves your chances of success. This can be as simple as walking every day, or as complex as you would like to make it. Check out our Fitness page for some suggestions on exercise routines that may work for you.

    Step 5: Success

With broken down goals, a winning program, and proper exercise, you are sure to succeed. Please post your success stories in our Guest Book at http://www.HotterThanHealth.com

  11. Just one question:
Why no less than 1100 calories a day?

  12. If you eat too little, instead of losing fat, you’ll lose bone mass which will invite other types of disease. Probably that’s why she made a cutoff at 1100 calories.

  13. WOW! great post. well my belly is getting bigger. This is just right on time to read. Step 4 would be better 4 me.

  14. Hi lizzie, I want you to read this….

I would like you to exercise an hour per day.

I met up with a personal trainer in a gym a month ago. She told me and my sis to exercise more than 20 minutes.

    Why?

20 minutes is just enough to burn all your sugar in your blood. That’s it. You exercise everyday not burning any fats but only sugars. I try out an hour every 2 days and it’s giving me great results. I am losing a pound everytime after an hour of exercise.

Not quite accurate but I just want to say exercise 20 minutes is not sufficient. After exercise 2 times of an hour, people told me that I lost weight which I didn’t expect.

    Hope it will help you.

  15. Goodluck on your diet. I hope everything works well for you. Happy New Year.

  16. Hope you are doing well on your dietary regime, especially during the holidays. I have found the best way to lose weight is not to count calories but to watch my portion sizes. Calorie counting is too hard. Keep up the great work!

  17. I know that the only way to loose weigth is to Gooble Less! And do exercise a bit every day. No much but do! Greeting for everyone;)

  18. Good points. I also should follow some of these… Or at least spend more time outside the office :)

  19. Drinking water is very important to any weight loss plan. i found out that simple things can be very effective. Drinking water only will get your system used to this healthy practice (instead of the stuff we buy and drink and think of as putting enough “water in us” because it happens to be in liquid form. eating yogurt , taking Metamucil (a form of psyllium fiber) 3 times a day, and drinking 3 liters of water per day. and eating salads all day and one big meal in the late afternoon (about 5:00pm) has lost me 40 (forty) pounds so far. and it’s worth it! James

  20. Good luck with your plan. I noticed that my wife always diverts after like 2 weeks and gains it back even quicker, so my advice to you is to be persistent. Maybe you should start out slow and ramp up so your body gets used to it. Looking forward to seeing how everything turns out! You’ve got our support.

  21. Good luck and hope you can keep with it!

  22. so……..diet lemon snapple has you in it’s grip too huh?

  23. quoting:

“2. no more than 1200 calories each day.
    3. no less than 1100 calories each day.”

A range of 100kcal is kinda …hm.. small?! Does it work? I don’t think you should count calories too much. As time goes by, you know a round figure for each food.
Don’t get me wrong, in my opinion, calories is the only thing that should be counted.. but not that detailed.

  24. While this plan may sound good, knowing when to eat is even more important.
    Stephie

  25. The easiest way to lose weight is to eat healthy i.e. non oily food. Also regular walking everyday helps. Walk instead of taking the bus, walk up and down the stairs instead of the lift.

  26. Good tips! And discussion is great as well! And Your site I finde really good! I need to look in more often.

  27. I have to say, I wish there was something similar to drug rehab or alcohol rehab but for food. I don’t mean one of those “fat-camps”, but somewhere where you get to live peacefully but in an environment that isn’t filled with fast food and unhealthy stuff everywhere

  28. Wow, 1200 calories seems a little low? I guess it depends on how much you weigh etc. but that seems like a very aggressive diet. I never managed to really get in to drinking water…I’ve tried throwing everything else out and just keep water around and the result is that I just hardly drink anything. I don’t know about diet snapple, but diet sodas contain no calories, so from a weight loss perspective it’s great - I’ve lost a lot of weight while guzzling diet soda on a daily basis. lortab rehab
