Losing weight, one diet at a time; one month at a time…

Fallen off the wagon…

I’ve lost the motivation for all things healthy. I’m not sure why. Which has kept me from writing posts. My friend, who I was to do the Faithfully Fit program with, got over-booked in her personal life and has postponed the start date till October. This may have something to do with my lack of enthusiasm. I think I’m just feeling hopeless about the situation. There are other factors that have contributed to this feeling, but I’m just tired.

  1. “think I’m just feeling hopeless about the situation.”

I’ve been there. Enjoy the last few days off and come back with renewed energy. At one point I fell off the wagon for a week and a half. The most important part is not getting caught up in self doubt and shame! Read this…

    God bless!

  3. I can totally relate. I’ve had to “fall off” due to trips, injury and illness. But I’ve been reading some studies that show that dieters who take a break, then get back on track, are more successful in the long run. Here’s the info from the Celebrity Fit Club website:

“It’s not the breaks that hurt weight loss efforts,” says study author Rena Wing, PhD, of Brown University Medical School. “It’s your negative reactions to the breaks and the subsequent downward spiraling.”

Enjoy your time off, and then get back on track!

  4. Losing weight really is a frame of mind. I, too, have not been able to get motivated. I blame it on blogging! A blogger friend of mine has embarked on a four week walk for fitness, and while I am a thousand miles away, I am joining her. Peer pressure helps. As for my eating habits - hopefully those will follow. Good luck to you!

  5. a break is good and yeah, sometimes, when you dont have inspiration, you really wont become motivated about it.

maybe try setting a goal that you want in a reachable time.

  6. That’s a good idea. Goals are always good.
I should probably also act “as if” I’m motivated - and perhaps it will come!

    Thanks for the support!

  7. i feel the same way, once i start eating healthy yeah i feel good, but after about 2 weeks im dunzo. i just wanna eat taco bell

  8. But were you too over-engagaed in your thinking about weight loss??
May be thats the reason for your lack of interest.Sometimes thinking too much to do something will actually decrease the real interest.

  9. In that situation I have found that two things help:

    1) get outside and go for a walk

    2) order a pizza

    Tomorrow is another day

  10. Whatever you do, don’t lose faith!! Not to sound all preachy, but you can totally do it! You just have to put your mind to it. And once you start seeing results, that will motivate you even more. Really, the key is trying to just follow a healthy lifestyle. My mom is a yo-yo dieter. She’ll go on one of those extreme diets, lose some weight, and then just go back to eating how she used to. So, basically she gains all the weight back, and then some:(
Anyways, good luck, and when you do set a goal, make sure it’s reasonable.

  11. I tried to do a month long cleansing diet and ended up cheating after 2 weeks. Nothing but veggies and fruits is tough!

  12. The reasons for failing on attempts to losing weight are as numerous as there are people working to lose weight. One-size fits all is not the case! (and who decides what size that one size is going to be anyway?)

Many times we have blocks we are totally non-aware of that are making our well-meaning attempts fail.

A non-invasive and non-expensive way to research this would be through EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). It’s starting to be more common knowledge that underlying emotional reasons can prevent or sabotage even the most dedicated person.

Again, no one modality can be a one-size fits all “fix”. Just throwing it out here as non-fattening food for thought! :) If it helps even one person achieve their goals then it’s a good thing!

I’ve got some info on it on my website. As I’ve said there is a ton of information and resources out there that are no-cost or low cost.

Blessings on all your hopes and dreams.

    Holly

  13. All of your comments are so appreciated. The EFT sounds interesting and I will check it out! But, I think my favorite it to go for a walk and order a pizza!

  14. I think that many people can get tired after being on it for so long. I don’t think a break is a bad thing. For one, it will help you assess your situation and address concerns on how to get back into the “Fitness lifestyle” once you feel better.

  15. 30 days to make and break a habit.

After being able to string together successive months of eating and sleeping well, I’ve noticed a change in me, it is no longer ‘work.’

What gets me through is remembering how I will feel once I get to the next level. I don’t know about you, but there was a time in my life when I was very healthy/living well.

I remember that time very well, and that’s what I use to push me forward when I’m feeling a less than motivated.

  16. I found your blog via Google while searching for weight loss supplements and your post regarding - Lose Weight - Diet Program Review: FatLadySingz.com looks very interesting for me

  17. Hang in there! I have a lot of time where I don’t feel as motivated. Do you best and try to do at least something during those times. When I don’t have motivation I usually try to still at least go for a walk or something. It helps me to not get to far out of line with both exercise and diet!

  18. I have had these days one too many times. The best is to just DO it. You will not regret it. I had that happen to me today.

  19. Getting motivated is the easy part….STAYING motivated is the hardest. I admire anyone who takes on the health challenge. I’m lazy when it comes to going to the gym…always have been. BUT I’m trying to make sure my family has a healthy meal. Kudos to you for sharing your path! I enjoy your blog.

  20. Thanks… I realized that since I’ve been struggling with my motivation - I’ve also stopped writing much on the blog. I’m starting to feel the motivation come back. I need to eat right regardless of how I feel.

  21. My husband wrote himself a contract. If he lost so much wieght and kept it off by the end of the year, he’d get to reward himself. It was working great until that ‘reward’ couldn’t wait (wieght) any longer. His TV he’d promised himself at the end of his contract, was obtained in July. Since then his wieght has shot to he**. Contracts are great, but you’ve got to stick to them.

  22. Hi there…Man i love reading your blog, interesting posts ! it was a great Tuesday

  23. Hello…Man i love reading your blog, interesting posts ! it was a great Monday

  24. Hi there Lizzie,

Sounds like you just need to get into something. Your in a stage I call “the slump”.

If you stay on the slump you’ll struggle to stick where you are and will only move down further. If you get doing something like a walk everyday for 30mins, youll start to walk out of the slump and be on “flat ground” again.

    Thanks,

    Sarah.

  25. “Great post! I really appreciate the information!”

  26. It’s easy to fall off the wagon and hard to get back on. I think it’s important to stay busy and active.

  27. Don’t lose faith. Start with that pizza, one more can do no harm, can it? I’m also getting so fat since I started working from home, but I know one day I’ll be thin again. I’m trying to to a bit of exercise every day and to open the fridge door less.
