Dinner at Suzanna Foo

Our dinner was wonderful at Suzanna Foo, which is located on Walnut St. between 15th and 16th in Philadelphia. We read many of the reviews that said it was a lot of hype, but not great. Most of the reviews said that the food wasn’t “focused”. I’m not sure that I require focus in my food when dining. The food was excellent.

We started with Dumpling Sampler - which is suggested for two people and it included - Pork, Chicken, Lamb, Vegetable, Mushroom and Steamed Diver Scallop Dumplings. Our waiter indicated that Dumplings were the house specialty. We also had Trio of Crab, which included - Hundred-Corner Crabcake, Jumbo Crabmeat Salad & Crab Spring Roll. I’m a huge fan of crab and this was one of the best I’ve had.

For dinner we had three entries
Crispy Jumbo Shrimp with Caramelized Citrus Sauce - Steamed Broccoli, Yukon Gold Potatoes & Coconut Sweet Rice

Braised Wild Striped Bass with Thai Curry Sauce and Coconut Sweet Rice

Kung Pao Chicken with Mushrooms, Roasted Red Peppers & Peanuts

I find it thoughtful that you took the time to say good things about a local, independent restaurant (which I am assuming it is). Being the co-owner of an independent restaurant myself, I know how hard it can be competing against the big chains. This resturant is great. I like to eat there with my gf. They have really good food and sensible prices:)
